About Arion Sporthorses

Arion Sporthorses derived its name from the mythological horse Arion, divinely gifted with immortality and extreme swiftness. We focus on a careful selection of European quality mares and stallions, many of whom are imported from Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, to produce foals with the potential for FEI dressage. Our focus is on breeding Hanoverians, German Oldenburgs, and Westphalians, and we host the Raleigh inspection site for the American Hanoverian Society each year. At Arion we aim for horses that are professional quality rides with solid temperaments.
We also specialize in young horse and stallion raising and stand several of our own stallions both in the USA and Germany. Our breeding focus is on quality proven damlines and generational breeding, and as such we work to retain fillies from our mares to eventually join our broodmare herd. Arion also keeps a collection of top mares, stallions, and young horses in Germany in order to have greater access to certain bloodlines. Our stallions stand at stud to outside mares as well as producing some foals for Arion each year. Located near Southern Pines, NC, we are in close proximity to shows all over the East Coast. Please feel free to contact us regarding foal and young horse sales, stallion information, and custom breedings.

Discovering her passion for riding at age seven, Samantha has been inseparable from horses ever since. Her once in a lifetime horse, Sunny, helped her to hone her skills in eventing and show-jumping, while her first stallion, Altemus, allowed her to develop a great love for dressage. Their combined influence on her life sparked Samantha’s interest into all areas of the equine breeding industry when she was still in her teens, leading to Samantha starting her first equine business when she was only 16 years old. Arion Sporthorses is the culmination of her love for breeding, stallions, and young horse raising. Samantha manages all the overall business aspects of Arion and rides her PRE stallion Tomillo as time permits. She especially loves attending breed shows and inspections with the young horses. She is supported by a committed and top-notch staff and the best possible veterinarian and farrier care available.

Additionally, Samantha has a J.D. in Transactional Law and an MBA in Finance from the top ranked Emory University in Atlanta. She has spent time working in corporate finance, legal compliance, and corporate law in both NYC and Atlanta.
