He was sired by a two-time Olympian in dressage and former member of the Flyinge Stud in Sweden and is out of a highly accomplished Hanoverian mare. Altemus has won numerous dressage and in-hand titles and has also lightly competed in eventing. He has inherited the massive stride and beautiful gaits of his sire, along with the height, refinement, and jumping ability of his dam. Altemus produces excellent moving offspring, whether you are looking to breed for dressage, show jumping, or eventing, and passes along a kind temperament and excellent rideability.

Altemus’ sire Olympic Amiral received the highest score ever at his stallion approvals and was the only stallion in the world to have received all 10’s on his gaits at the time. He is still the highest rated stallion ever tested in Sweden and he stood at the Flyinge Stud for a long time. Under Kyra Kyrkland, Amiral won numerous dressage titles and competed at the 1996, and later with Peter Marnke, the 2000 Olympics (placing as the number one Swedish horse).

Altemus is out of the Hanoverian mare, Elite J. Adelian***. Although J. Adelian died prematurely in 2003, she produced 8 phenomenal offspring while actively competing. All 8 of J. Adelian’s foals, including Altemus, were premium or Class 1 foals. J. Adelian was twice USDF Horse of the Year and a Dressage at Devon winner – three times with perfect 10 scores. Additionally, she was top three in year-end eventing, top three in AHSA Hunter breeding, and all of her dressage scores were over 74%. J. Adelian is also the dam of the stallion Opus (by Olympic Idocus), the # 1 USDF Dressage Breeding Sire for 2006 (and # 2 in 2005 and 2004). She was approved for breeding with the Belgian, Dutch, Swedish, Oldenburg and Hanoverian registries.
